Staying Safe Online

The internet is a big part of everyday life whether you’re chatting with friends, watching videos, gaming, or learning something new. But just like in real life, it’s important to know how to stay safe.

About

In our 2025 Youth Safety Summit, local young people have told us they feel safer on platforms like WhatsApp, YouTube, and Pinterest, but have concerns about Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram – especially around things like grooming, misinformation, and unwanted messages.

We want to make sure you have the tools, support, and trusted adults to help you stay safe and feel confident online.

Tips to help you stay safe

Think before you share

Once something’s online, it can be hard to take back.

Keep your info private

Don’t share your full name, address, school, or passwords.

Block and report

If someone makes you uncomfortable, block them and report it.

Talk to someone you trust

If something doesn’t feel right, speak to a youth worker, teacher, or adult you trust.

Need help or advice?

If you’re worried about something online, need support accessing activities, or just want to talk – we’re here for you. We’ll always have a conversation and explore options with you, making sure everyone has somewhere to go and someone to support them.
